For you people who just cannot seem to grasp how amazing this whole Xbox One reveal is, let me lay this out on the table for you, because many of your disappointments come from misunderstanding and projected expectation.
This was a ‘Console reveal’, not a video games reveal. The fact that in their hour long conference they didn’t even really have time to touch on the games is kind of a big deal. The Xbox One is not simply a “Video game console”. They focused on the All-in-one motif for a reason. It is indeed a full on well rounded entertainment system. Anyone one who has been doing their research keeping up with the trends of the video game industry knows, and may have many a time said themselves that one day the PC, the television, and video game console will one day be one entity. The Xbox One is taking the reins of that day. If you think about it, It started in the Xbox 360 before moving here. The Xbox 360 didn’t have most any of the apps in the beginning of it’s run, that it has now. The conservative design of the Xbox one console alone screams living room entertainment family center.
The fact that this system is running 3 operating systems, and has instant switching between several different forms of media, is a big deal. Window in window conversation via Skype, while watching a film or playing a game. Blu-ray capabilities. One of the few ONLY advantages for the Playstation. The damn thing can offload processing power to it’s cloud system! The biggest thing that was glazed over on their end was upgraded the capabilities of the Kinect. The thing now recognizes 3D motion, and is sensitive enough to recognize heart rate. It captures you at 1080p 60fps… I think we’re all hoping this one won’t have a case of Moleneaux. We don’t want another Milo situation… Google it.
They may not have weighed heavy on the gamer candy, but there are clearly surprises in store… consider on the Xbox One you can now have one thousand people on your Friends list. Your achievement points will transfer. These are small victories in a big picture that has yet to be revealed. Xbox is listening.
Of course you have questions. Questions are good! Will it be backwards compatible? Sadly that has been confirmed as a no… but neither will the PS4. Will I be able to log in to my 360 and my Xbox One on my gamer tag? Yes you will. How powerful is it? Google it!

Arab International Festival in Dearborn is canceled in wake of religious tensions
The decision to cancel this year’s festival comes after four years of tensions at the event between some Christian missionaries and local Muslims. Their encounters resulted in heated arguments, scuffles, some bottle-throwing, and several lawsuits. Last year, one group of Christian missionaries brought a pig’s head and signs insulting Islam’s prophet.This is absolute bull shit. Its disgraceful and disgusting! This wasn’t about “religious tensions” this was outright bigotry, racism and islamophobia.
This is horrible. The Arabic festival is a tradition here and I can’t believe that City Officials gave up just like that. Not only did they originally move the festival but they still had a month to figure things out! I’m so angry and disappointed right now.
I’m not Arab, but I’ve been to the festival every year, and I gotta say I’m kinda glad they’re cancelling it this year. Not because of racism/islamophobia. I’m really good friends with Muslims and I know firsthand that they’re not violent.
BUT. The highschoolers who like to act cool and start fights. They’re the reason this thing is getting cancelled. You have some graduates from Fordson that think they’re tough big sh— and it pisses people off. The Arabs of Dearborn are generally cocky - that’s a fact. Everyone knows it. Go overseas (I’ve been to Egypt, beautiful) if you want to meet some nice and friendly Arabs.
You can’t blame the missionaries either, they’re just peacefully giving out information. It’s not like they’re on a podium preaching or getting up in people’s faces and yelling “LEAVE YOUR RELIGION AND FOLLOW ME! QUICKLY! THERE’S NO TIME TO LOSE!” they just hand out pamphlets. I’ve spoken to a few of them and they’re actually pretty laid back.
And this cancellation could also be a wake-up call to the stubborn Arabs who like to get up in their faces. Who knows, this could be a good thing.
